Tantum is the alias of Thomas Koch, a producer from Karlsruhe who spent over a decade as a guitarist in rock and metal bands before coming to electronic music. He cites Eric Prydz's 2013 BBC Essential Mix as the moment that redirected him. He debuted in 2019 on Juicebox Music with the Ashen EP and gained wider attention in 2020 after ZHU gave his music significant support. His releases have appeared on Lost & Found, Poker Flat Recordings, Monaberry, Mango Alley, Lowbit Records, and Global Underground's Adapt series, and he has also released on Lane 8's This Never Happened label and collaborated with Simon Vuarambon for Bedrock. He receives support from Guy J, Lane 8, John Digweed, Nick Warren, and Hernán Cattáneo.
