Hernán Cattáneo is a Buenos Aires-born DJ and producer widely credited with establishing progressive house as a cultural force in South America. After a residency at Clubland Pacha in Buenos Aires from 1996, he gained international recognition through Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label, releasing the compilation 'Perfecto Presents: South America' in 2002. He went on to hold residencies at Cream in Liverpool and Pacha in Ibiza, and has released numerous Balance and Global Underground compilations. Since the late 2000s he has run his own Sudbeat label, which continues to be a key platform for underground progressive house and melodic techno. His DJ sets are known for their unhurried, deep approach, favouring texture and atmosphere over high-energy builds.
