Danny Howells is a British DJ and producer from Hastings, East Sussex, who rose to prominence in the mid-1990s through his residencies at clubs including Cream in Liverpool and Renaissance in Nottingham. His sets became known for their depth and narrative arc — weaving through deep house, progressive, and tribal sounds in a way that consistently set him apart from his contemporaries. Howells recorded a legendary Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 in 1999 that remains widely cited as one of the best ever broadcast, and his Global Underground entry, recorded live in Nubreed, further cemented his reputation. He has released music on labels including Bedrock and his own Darkroom Dubs imprint, and continues to DJ internationally.
