The Prog Lab Presents Alfonso Muchacho

26th August 2019

A pioneer of modern electronic music, Alfonso Muchacho sets the new standard for both technical ability and dance floor control. Residing in London, UK, he has become one of the most sought after DJs in Europe playing at nightclubs and festivals across the continent.

His productions fill the sets of some of the biggest names in the scene and he is as in demand in the studio as he is on the dance floor. His ridiculous work ethic and unique larger-than-life personality mean that his rise shows no sign of stopping.

Alfonso Muchacho has very kindly sent us another one of his superb fresh mixes for us, check it out below.

Alfonso will be playing our night part of our summer party in Bristol. The summer party will also feature international talents including Tom Demac, Joseph Ashworth, Kasper Koman, Budakid, Paul Hazendonk, Ian Dillon, Jawjee, Tomas Bayley, Alec Pritchard, Ben Major & Nadia at The Prog Lab Summer Party on August 31st 2019.

The Prog Lab Presents Tom Demac (Live)

23rd August 2019

There’s no second-guessing  Tom  Demac.  From his earliest output in the fertile techno scene of his native North Wales to his most recent world-beating  12”s,  he has never shied away from trying something new. His music first reached the world via his own Electronique Audio imprint in 2004, matching the experimental spirit of minimal to a tougher techno sensibility.  This gave rise to tracks brimming with creativity and packing a punch, thanks to the gutsy analogue set up that has been Tom’s calling card since day one.

If there is one label that has facilitated Tom’s ascension to a global force within house and techno, it would be Hypercolour. From the bass-laden decimation of “Critical Distance Pt.2” to the shimmering synth-pop allure of “Obstructing The Light” on sister label Glasstable, the partnership of artist and imprint has catapulted Tom to recognition.

Tom’s particular passion for performing live has imprinted his name and sound on the minds of many.  Ever committed to carting around more equipment than modern technology necessitates,  his performances are an explosive extension of the hands-on approach he has in the studio. From DC10 to Freerotation, Tom’s sets have always kept the energy high and dynamic,  a constant tribute to the techno roots that set him on his way.

For all the peak-time club-centric fireworks, there are other strings to Tom’s bow.  From collaborations with long-time friend Duncan Jones of Silverclub to an outing on Kompakt with Real Lies which Kompakt are calling a renaissance release for the label, Tom has never been afraid to work with a powerful vocal and fit it to a reflective side of his supple electronics.

Tom Demac will be headlining our summer party in Bristol. The summer party will also feature international talents including Joseph Ashworth, Kasper Koman, Budakid, Paul Hazendonk, Ian Dillon, Alfonso Muchacho, Jawjee, Tomas Bayley, Alec Pritchard, Ben Major & Nadia at The Prog Lab Summer Party on August 31st 2019.

The Prog Lab Presents Joseph Ashworth

22nd August 2019

For the last few years, Joseph Ashworth has been crafting a unique sound within the realms of house and techno. A sound that captures the gritty honesty of techno, but with an experimental and melodic edge, Joseph approaches each piece of new music without pretence or discrimination, focusing on the emotion the music conveys as opposed to slotting within predetermine genre boundaries.

As a performer, Joseph is a unique, exciting and versatile DJ. Which has seen him play extended sets at the likes of CRSSD Festival, Printworks as well tours of the far east and north America.

His highly acclaimed releases on Life & Death, Get Weird, Pets, ELEMENTS and Needwant have helped him grow a reputable fanbase on both side of the Atlantic, receiving support from all corners of the electronic music scene including Lee Burridge, Jonas Rathsman, DJ Tennis, Patrice Baumel, Kolsch and many more. This admiration from his peers has often resulted in collaboration and studio hours have been spent with the likes of Catz ‘N Dogz and Jonas Rathsman.

Joseph Ashworth is live tonight (August 22nd 2019( at 8pm on Soho Radio London

Joseph Ashworth will be closing our summer party in Bristol. The summer party will also feature international talents including Tom Demac, Kasper Koman, Budakid, Paul Hazendonk, Ian Dillon, Alfonso Muchacho, Jawjee, Tomas Bayley, Alec Pritchard, Ben Major & Nadia at The Prog Lab Summer Party on August 31st 2019.

The Prog Lab Presents Budakid

21st August 2019

Kevin Huizing AKA Budakid is a Tilburg based music producer/DJ. Coming from a very musical family, it was only a matter of time before young Budakid started playing an instrument of his own. As a drummer in a drum ensemble, the soon-to-be producer/DJ got his first taste of beats and he wanted more. Having a good sense of rhythm helped him as a fledgling DJ. Before long, Budakid landed his first residency in one of Utrecht’s most popular clubs. Although he wasn’t of legal age, several clubs asked him to perform and Budakid showed his promise by measuring up to peers twice his age.

But as it happens with a lot of DJ’s, only djing wasn’t enough for his own musical output. So Budakid sought out to prove his worth as a self-taught producer. Influenced by the likes of Joris Voorn, Stimming, Trentemøller and acts such as Massive Attack, Radiohead and Caribou, the Dutchman developed a very melodic style of his own. A typical Budakid song has floating melodies, the right set of chords and some strong, energetic vibes all mashed together. All this made him a crowd favorite at festivals like Pleinvrees, Sonar (ES) and SonneMondSterne and clubs such as Katerblau (DE), Sisyphos (DE), Watergate (DE), Cafe D’anvers (BE) and Melkweg (NL).

His music has been already supported by heavyweights such as Sasha, Joris Voorn, Guy J, Kölsch, and Deadmau5. That’s something that didn’t happen overnight. Budakid’s tracks have been released on respected labels like Einmusika, Last Night On Earth, All Day I Dream, Get Physical and Audiomatique. Well-known blogs and magazines including Deep House Amsterdam, FAZE Magazine and VICE’s Thump are very enthusiastic about the producer’s tracks. So it’s safe to say Budakid isn’t just another kid on the block. Already regarded as a more than reliable producer/dj by his peers, nothing stands in the way of Budakid to become one of the greats.

Budakid will be playing alongside Tom Demac, Kasper Koman, Joseph Ashworth, Paul Hazendonk, Ian Dillon, Alfonso Muchacho, Jawjee, Tomas Bayley, Alec Pritchard, Ben Major & Nadia at The Prog Lab Summer Party on August 31st 2019.
